Taking the mail-order-bride to the stars is a popular trope in science-fiction romance. Grace Goodwin’s riff features an alliance of alien soldiers facing a deadly enemy and protecting earth in return for mates. The steamy to plot quotient is such that they edge into erotica, but the plots are strong enough that the writing duo that goes by Grace Goodwin can get away with it.
Having read a half dozen from the various series, some are stronger than others. The first in the Intergalactic Brides is not the strongest in the series, but it does establish the framework.
The Ascension Saga is the newest, and while I have not read it, the first volume is free. Be aware that it is the first of a 3 volume serial with cliff-hangers. The other two volumes are currently US$2.99.
